Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), Barrie, ON

  • Currently working as the interim Stroke Accreditation Quality Coordinator, working within an interprofessional team to collaborate on quality improvement initiatives to support high quality stroke care. Implement delivery of provincial quality indicators/measures as well as Stroke Accreditation goals and metrics. Contribute to the development of key performance indicators and monitoring in stroke services. Further hone leadership, critical thinking and analytical skills through analysis of performance and quality metrics, as well as determining hospital practices that meet Accreditation Canada standards of best stroke care.

  • As the interim Community and Long Term Care Coordinator, utilize networking and consultative skills to promote change and build capacity in the health care community through participation in QI projects and environmental scans. Led a pilot project with various partners to support enhanced stroke care expertise for clinicians working in the community. As the chair of a community partners expo, collaborate with various organizations to plan and deliver an informative and engaging event to promote uptake of stroke best practices.

  • As a member of the Allied Health Services Team, provide nutrition consultation for acute care patients with advanced level clinical nutrition assessment skills.

  • Successfully guide and support interprofessional team in role as Chair of Interprofessional Practice Committee for General Medicine Program. Utilize effective communication strategies to ensure team members are supported to share ideas and feel respected during meetings. Promote teamwork, safety, respect and patient-centred care. Create a culture in which staff members feel comfortable voicing questions, concerns and contributing new ideas to promote growth of the team.

  • As Chair of the Malnutrition Task Force, organize week-long annual event to promote malnutrition awareness hospital wide. Lead education initiatives for all staff.

  • Leader of continuing education for all dietitians at the health centre - plan and organize quarterly education opportunities to enhance clinical practice.

  • Accomplished public speaker presenting at Grand Rounds on multiple occasions and workshops for various colleagues and professional staff.

  • Creatively shared nutrition information to the general public through radio spots and web-based pod casts.

  • Preceptor and mentor for numerous nutrition students and interns.

 

Barrie Community Health Centre, Barrie, ON

  • Successfully developed and implemented a 4 week education series for older adults on eating alone.

  • Represented the health centre at a variety of community events.

Georgian College, Barrie, ON

  • As an instructor in the Liberal Arts & Academic Quality program, developed and delivered appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives and evaluation for 50 students.

  • Incorporated a variety of teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students for success.
